Job description

Netdata is looking for an experienced Senior Director of Developer Relations to build and lead our community and developer outreach activities. Reporting to the VP of Product, you will enrich, educate and grow a vibrant community of professionals who share a passion for technology and problem solving.

All candidates for this position should have a solid track record of success in building and growing developer relations teams that include community, developer advocate, and education groups.

Responsibilities

  • Build and execute strategies to make Netdata the most popular source / brand for technical information on infrastructure monitoring.

  • Launch and lead the Developer Relations program from inception through commercialization into a revenue-driving business, including building and nurturing an innovative and engaged community where ideas are exchanged both inside and outside of Netdata

  • Grow awareness, size, adoption and community engagement through active participation across various social media channels and outreach activities.

  • Lead Netdata’s open source contribution initiatives.

  • Build Netdata industry and community thought leadership through submissions for conferences (virtual and in-person, when possible), talks, and presentations at meetups and other community-building avenues.

  • Build a team of world-class developer advocates who evangelize Netdata solutions to the community and overall market.

  • Oversee and build out engaging online education experiences for Netdata users.

  • Partner with marketing and product teams to deliver engaging developer content for our blog, video, social media, and other outlets that empowers our community.

  • Explore development of a Developer Certification Program.

  • Create the tech stack and sample applications that help support a fast growing community

  • Evangelize product and solutions to community

  • Work on cross functional initiatives with product and marketing teams

  • Lead a global team of developer advocates and technical educators to build an active, loyal, and passionate technical community

  • Manage the developer journey from website to documentation to tools.

  • Capture, analyze, and share relevant developer insights with the product and engineering teams; act as the “Voice of the Developer” by championing developers with internal teams, translating developer needs into prioritized feature development.

  • Develop and capture KPIs to drive continuous improvement and the success of Developer Relations.

Job requirements

  • Prior experience managing or working in developer relations (e.g. as a technology evangelist or advocate, community manager, etc.)

  • Experience presenting at technical meetups, conferences, etc.

  • Experience writing technical blog posts/articles

  • Professional and engaging verbal and written communication skills

  • Knowledge and experience in IT stacks and infrastructure monitoring preferred, but not required.

  • Passionate for open source technologies.

  • Bachelor/Masters degree in relevant field.

  • Demonstrated ability to get buy-in from both direct reports and cross-functional teams

  • Excellent team skills with demonstrated enthusiasm and ability to lead in highly cross-functional, globally diverse organizations

  • Knowledgeable of developer products and tools as well as the IT industry as a whole.

  • Strong drive to listen to developer customers and translate their needs back to internal teams
